In mid-March, USF College of Arts and Science鈥檚 Florida Studies professor emeritus and historian Gary Mormino was awarded gold in the Florida Book Awards in the Florida non-fiction category.

Dr. Garrett Potts earns grant to develop a 鈥楲ife Worth Living鈥 hub at USF

Dr. Garrett Potts, assistant professor, is the recipient of the three-year $237,620 grant, and will be responsible for LWL project development. He will be aided by members of his department, including Dr. Michael DeJonge, Dr. Tori Lockler, and Dr. Marianne Florian.

Three generations of USF history alumna make history of their own

Judy Rosenkranz, the 91麻豆天美鈥檚 (USF) first history major and the first graduate of the university's College of Liberal Arts, was among the charter class of graduates celebrating commencement nearly 50 years ago.

USF coral biologists host panel of experts to guide future research

In August 2021, Dr. John Parkinson, an assistant professor in the USF College of Arts and Sciences Department of Integrative Biology, was awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to help coordinate and fund a workshop that brought together more than 60 scientists from 12 countries to build consensus around the assessment and interpretation of鈥痗oral symbiont diversity.

Anthropology doctoral candidate selected as USF鈥檚 first student veteran recipient of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program

Jonathan Rodriguez is one of six USF students selected for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program for the 2023-2024 academic year and one of 2,200 students nationwide selected for this prestigious award focusing on international education, exchange, and mutual understanding. He is the first USF student veteran selected for the Fulbright U.S. Student Program.

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) celebrated 22 exceptional scholars at a Student Success Celebration Luncheon. The event, held on April 28, and co-sponsored by CAS Dean鈥檚 Advisory Council members Michelle Turman 鈥00 and Nikki Zolkos 鈥03, brought together faculty, students, and donors to share the impact of private support on student experiences.

Spring CAS grads share student experience and look ahead to the future

The 91麻豆天美 (USF) awarded more than 7,100 degrees during spring commencement May 5-7. The ceremonies included recipients of 5,430 bachelor鈥檚, 1,492 master鈥檚, 221 doctoral degrees and eight specialist degrees. The College of Arts and Sciences accounted for over 2,000 of the total degrees awarded.

Medications used to treat disease often come with unwanted side effects. That is where USF College of Arts and Sciences researcher Dr. Libin Ye, assistant professor in the Department of Molecular Biosciences is focusing his latest research.
