Work Experience
A former college coach and sports executive, Ron has spent over three decades coaching, leading, and developing teams and sports organizations at the highest levels. Having worked at nearly every level of sport, in both coaching and leadership roles, Ron offers a unique and valuable perspective on what it takes to achieve excellence in both sport and business.
Background
As an experienced coach, sports executive, and leadership development expert, Ron knows what it takes to unlock leaders' potential. Over the past decade, he has focused on coaching, leadership, organizational evaluation, and performance. He currently collaborates with Canadian and Australian Olympic and Paralympic organizations working with coaches, leaders, and teams, as well as NCAA and professional organizations in the United States.
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Ron began his coaching career in 1993 at Mount Royal College, where he led the men’s basketball program for six seasons and the women’s program for one (he later returned as the school’s Manager of Athletics in 2003). During those seven years, he was named coach of the year three times. Wuotila’s coaching journey later took him south of the border, where he spent three seasons on staff at Pitt, Duquesne, and Robert Morris University.
Ron’s coaching and leadership expertise extends beyond collegiate athletics; he served as Head of Basketball Operations and General Manager of the British Olympic Basketball teams (men and women) from 2007-20212. Ron returned home to Calgary, where he led the University of Calgary Athletic Department as Athletic Director for four years. More recently, he designed and led the Coaching Enhancement Program for Canada’s high-performance partners from 2017 to 2021.
